What 'counts' as a download? A download is counted when you view a full-text paper/case study/company profile in either HTML or PDF format, or view a data/statistics table, a PDF report or an Excel spreadsheet. Viewing the same item from different computers will also be counted as multiple downloads, as will viewing the same item in different sessions. Viewing paper summaries or news stories does not count as a download. I keep having to login when I visit the site even though I previously entered my details, why? WARC Online stores a cookie on your PC to recognise you next time you visit the site. If this cookie has been deleted or blocked by your browser/security settings then you will be asked to enter your login details. Please contact your IT department for more details of your company’s policy towards cookies. I have forgotten my password, how can I retrieve it? Please contact us with your username and/or company details. Can I change my password? Yes, if you are the named subscriber you may change your password by contacting us with a new password (minimum of 6 characters). We will then e-mail confirmation that your password has been changed. Who else within my company can use WARC? Unless you have specifically requested and been granted a group licence, then your subscription is for use by a specific company based at a single office location. This means that the named subscriber may only give the WARC password to other employees who work at the same office location. Additional locations within the organisation, company or group must take a separate subscription (discounts for multi-site access are available.) Access to WARC through company intranets is also possible, please contact us for more details. Where can I find...? WARC Online has been designed to help you find the information you want, quickly and easily. If you are having problems finding a section or paper, please visit our site map or contact us. Do you offer any other access methods aside from Username/Password? Yes, WARC Online can be accessed by the following methods: Referrer/Intranet Access To enable access to WARC Online via a company intranet, we can set up access via a referrer link. To do this:- Set up a link to http://www.warc.com on your company Intranet
- The referrer link must be hosted on a secure part on the Intranet that only staff have access to.
- The link must not be hosted on a HTTPS page.
- The link must not open WARC Online using the JavaScript ‘Open’ command.
- Contact us with the full address of where the link to WARC Online exists (e.g. http://intranet.company.com)
If you have any questions regarding the access of your account, please contact us
The date displayed next to an paper on your homepage/topic pages doesn’t seem to match the date when I view it, why? The date displayed indicates when the material was made available to WARC Online, not necessarily the original date of publication. How can I ensure delivery of WARC emails? Some email programs require users to add email senders to their ‘safe senders’ list. Outlook 2003 users can click here for a guide on how to do this. If you are unsure or have a different email program, please ask your IT department for further advice.
Why won't the full text paper display when I click on the title or the full text link? There could be two reasons for this:
- For security reasons it is only possible to have one full text paper open at any given time. Simply close down the window with the full text paper and then click on the link to open another one.
- There are a occasional sources on WARC Online (FIPP Abstracts; Market Research Abstracts) where only an abstract or summary is available. In these cases the paper title will not link to the full text, nor will you have a link (below the summary) inviting you to download the full text.
